Giuliani Faces Massive $148 Million Fine for Defaming Election Workers, Jury Rules

A jury has determined that Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York and former attorney general of President Donald Trump, must pay a little over $148 million for slandering Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, two election workers, with a vile campaign that falsely claimed they were involved in fraud and had “cheated” voters in the 2020 election. The jury’s decision came after more than a day of deliberations.

Giuliani’s lawyer, Joseph Sibley, opened the trial by telling the judge that his client was requesting the “civil equivalent of the death penalty.”

The plaintiffs’ attorneys had suggested that the jury grant compensatory damages to each of the two women, or a total of $48 million. However, the jury was given free rein to determine how much was awarded in punitive or emotional damages.

$148,169,000 million is the total amount that represents punitive and compensatory damages.

Freeman and Moss testified throughout the brief four-day trial, along with expert witnesses for the plaintiffs. But Giuliani declined to give a statement.

Politico reporter Kyle Cheney stopped Giuliani on the sidewalk as he was leaving the courthouse in Washington, D.C. on Friday after the judgment. Giuliani is anticipated to file an appeal.

Giuliani described the decision as “absurd.”

He declared, “I don’t regret a damn thing.”

Giuliani allegedly told NBC that he thought the judge was “threatening” to charge him with contempt when they were questioned about why he did not take the stand.

Freeman spoke to a group of media outside the courthouse.

After neglecting to address certain aspects of Moss and Freeman’s initial lawsuit, Giuliani is already liable to them for an additional $230,000. In July, he attempted to play both sides by acknowledging that he had made derogatory remarks about the women but maintained that there had been no harm done to their reputation. His lawyers contended that his speech was protected by the First Amendment in any case.

In addition, Giuliani is currently facing a civil action for sexual harassment brought by a former colleague; he is also being sued by Hunter Biden for allegedly mishandling personal information; he is also being charged in Georgia in connection with the matter of the fake electors, along with Trump and other parties.

According to Politico, the jury divided the damages into two categories: $16 million for each of the women who accused him of defamation, and an additional $20 million for mental distress. A sum of $75 million was allocated for punitive damages.

Even though the trial was short, it was emotionally charged as the women described the horrors they experienced. Giuliani, the former president of Donald Trump, and the Trump campaign repeated false allegations that the women had committed fraud while employed at the State Farm Arena in Fulton County, Georgia, during the 2020 election.

Freeman testified that she was immediately struck with the impression that Trump, at the time one of the most powerful men on the planet, was downright “evil” when she heard him call her by name and repeat Giuliani’s unfounded accusations in the media and online.

“The previous White House leader? Speaking of me? How cruel. How wicked. I was inconsolable. We didn’t take any action. I got the impression that you didn’t give a damn. You’re just trying to carry out your strategy,” she remarked.

The several hundred ladies threatened to kill them, forcing them to go into hiding. Threats were made to kidnap and lynch the women. Moss stated during her testimony this week that it was stressful back then and still is. Her son has had academic difficulties, and she has found it difficult to recover.

During Thursday’s final remarks, Michael Gottlieb, the women’s attorney, urged the eight-member jury to “send a message” that libelous behavior such as Giuliani’s would not be permitted.

Giuliani “had no right to turn over defenseless public servants to an online mob in an attempt to rig an election,” according to Gottlieb.

Iran Executes 'Child Bride' Convicted of Husband's Murder Despite Global Appeals for Mercy

Human rights organizations had urged for mercy, but on Wednesday an Iranian lady who had been forced into marriage as a child and was imprisoned for killing her husband was put to death.

Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO), a Norwegian organization, claims that Samira Sabzian was hung at Ghezelhesar Prison.

Sabzian was the victim of “gender apartheid, child marriage, and domestic violence,” according to IHRNGO Director Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam.

“[T]he murdering machine of the corrupt and inept dictatorship claimed her life today. A tyranny that has survived only by murdering people and inciting terror,” Amiry-Moghaddam said in a statement. “Ali Khamenei and other leaders of the Islamic Republic must be held accountable for this crime.”

Sabzian was imprisoned for ten years after her husband’s murder. According to IHRNGO, Sabzian suffered from domestic abuse and was coerced into marriage at the age of 15. At the time of her arrest, she was the mother of two small children, one of whom was a newborn. For a decade, Sabzian was separated from them until they visited the prison to bid her farewell before her execution.

“Alarmed” by the execution, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights’ office expressed.

“We again urge Iran to establish a moratorium on all executions to abolish the death penalty,” according to the office.

According to IHRNGO, Iran has carried out about 200 executions of women since 2010, making it one of the countries that executes the most women worldwide. Even in situations of domestic abuse and violence, women are not entitled to divorce; in more than half of those cases, the women were found guilty of killing their husbands.

New Jersey Highway Crash Involving 13 Cars Results in Injuries, Fuel Leak from Tractor Trailer

According to accounts, on Tuesday night, a jackknifed tractor-trailer spilled diesel fuel across the highway and into the Passaic River, causing a 13-car pileup. According to sources, police and emergency personnel from New Jersey came to the scene.

A jackknifed tractor-trailer is seen obstructing both lanes of traffic in the Freedom News TV footage of the incident. A further view shows a firefighter from Paterson, New Jersey, sledding across a black ice-covered roadway.

A car on a flatbed tow truck with its entire rear end shattered and all of its airbags deployed is also seen in the footage.

A portion of the road flooded while Sarvjeet Singh, who was interviewed for the video, was driving. Before coming to a section of the road that was frozen, he indicated that he and other cars had driven through.

As more automobiles started crashing into one another, he continued, “All of a sudden they couldn’t control their cars.” He then pulled into a driveway. “I found out before that, there was a tractor-trailer that got hit by a car and there was a bad injury there.”

He noticed as he pulled into the driveway that the automobiles were smashing behind him.

He believed something was wrong with his brakes after driving through the water, but then he began to slip and discovered the road was slick.

Crushed bumpers, flat tires, broken lamps, and dented fenders are among the damaged cars seen in more footage that is captured on the black ice.

Cars were pointing in the direction opposite to the flow of traffic, and some cars were sideways on the road.

Additionally, fluid-cleaning crews were observed underneath the tractor-trailer. They were observed shoveling and sweeping a quick-dry material that is meant to absorb fluids like oil and other substances that can pollute the environment or create dangerous circumstances on routes.

On camera, a crew member is seen pointing to an area and inquiring as to whether it contained diesel. Photo evidence indicated that the tractor-trailer’s fuel tank was dented, resulting in fuel spilling onto the roadway.

Roadway sanding was done by salt trucks following the collision. Photos posted on the Paterson Police Department’s Facebook page depict officers responding to a coastal storm that passed through the region on Monday, which resulted in significant flooding and hazardous drivers.

EMS arrived and declared the children who had received assistance dead on the spot. An unidentified woman reported to authorities that her kids were throwing up and that she might have given them Tylenol.

No foul play is suspected by the police. Chief of Detectives for the New York Police Department Joseph Kenny stated that all reports show the mother was “well engaged with everything to do with these children.”

“She was an active participant with their medical care, an active participant in their schooling,” he stated. Their family was calm and caring, and neighbors claimed she was a devoted mother. Right now, it just seems like a medical disaster until the medical examiner says otherwise.”

The NYPD informs Fox News Digital that the cause of death will be ascertained by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The probe is still going strong.
