MBS NewsThe men laughed and joked together behind Norman Bennett’s brand-new trailer. The neighborhood had mostly been rebuilt in the neighborhood’s surrounds after a storm devastated the Flatwood hamlet in November 2022.
Bennett looked over his land, his eyes resting on the trees that had sustained damage during the storm.
Everything will become more beautiful as the grass, trees, and leaves grow, according to Bennett. It will regain its original appearance. It will be so lush and beautiful that you won’t even be able to see them.
Bennett moved into his mobile home two months ago; according to Pastor Marcus Boyd, his house was one of the six that the River Region United Way replaced. Boyd has led the charge in making sure that every impacted family gets a roof over their heads once more.

Rebuilding the community center that was destroyed by the tornado is something Montgomery County is moving toward with great speed. On November 30, 2023, one year after the accident, a groundbreaking ceremony for the new center was held.
As of right now, the walls of the construction have been built, and progress is being made every day.
The lives taken by the storm are an irreplaceable loss, even though Flatwood has mostly returned to its pre-tornado status.
In addition to wreaking havoc on Flatwood, the tornado claimed the lives of two individuals. In the tornado, Ceddarius Tell, age 8, and Chiquita Broadnax, age 30, perished.
