Mocobizscene: On Monday, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy disclosed that the state has taken in over 1,800 migrants. This action was conducted in order to get around recently imposed New York City laws that forbid surprise bus appearances.
Thanks to NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ executive order, bus loads of migrants from Texas and Louisiana are now being dumped off in New Jersey. New Jersey became the intended destination for these migrants at the beginning of the year when this order went into force.
Adams office had earlier declared that it had sued seventeen charter bus businesses in a statement. The goal of the action was to recoup the funds the city had used to care for the migrants that these businesses had transported. Following this declaration, Texas Governor Greg Abbott harshly denounced Adams’ assertions, calling them “baseless.”
At least 1,800 people have been temporarily placed by businesses at New Jersey train stations since December 31st. After that, these people can take public transportation to Manhattan for their jobs.
Murphy wrote the charter bus firms on Monday, informing them that if they plan to transport asylum seekers, they must give his state’s officials a thirty-two-hour notice.
According to a press release from Murphy, the governor of Texas, who is purportedly paying for the passengers’ transportation with public funds, must notify New Jersey authorities ahead of time of these people’s expected arrival if the passengers’ health and safety are to be guaranteed once they get to New Jersey. Governor Murphy says it’s imperative that New Jersey officials be informed ahead of time about the coming of migrants that the governor of Texas is transporting to the state. The transportation of these people is purportedly being financed by taxpayer money, according to the governor of Texas. Governor Murphy underlined the significance of this prior notification in order to protect the travelers’ health and well-being when they arrive in New Jersey.
We will also disseminate this information to our colleagues on the other side of the Hudson in order to guarantee the well-being and security of travelers heading into New York City.
Businesses are now required to follow the new guidelines mentioned in the letter, which include reporting the number of passengers on each bus to the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management. Companies also have to give a thorough breakdown of all the people on board, classifying them as chaperones, family members, or lone passengers.
Please let me know the scheduled times and the desired drop-off locations.
Murphy said, “We sincerely ask for your cooperation in providing this information to ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers.” We also want to make it clear that we reserve the right to take any necessary legal action against anyone who is discovered to be breaking any applicable laws.
